A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That

Yesterday morning Tomkin and I went to Macy's in downtown Minneapolis for their Ever After bridal event. Even though we're having a small ceremony and not doing a lot of the traditional wedding things, Tomkin has encouraged me to really enjoy this bride-to-be time and everything that comes with it. We got free samples of cake, food, and champagne, and they had info and presentations about things you could register for. Unfortunately, because of the cold weather, a water main broke. Those poor event planners! Water was literally streaming down the walls and pouring into the area where all the brides-to-be were ogling registry goods. They eventually had to shut down the whole area. Fortunately, another section of the store (three floors up) was also set up for the event. Tomkin and I went up there and watched a bridal gown fashion show. Then we did a little ring shopping for him. It was all fun, but kind of exhausting.
After we left Macy's, we went to Tomkin's friend Ben's parents' house in Apple Valley. Ben does mixed martial arts/ultimate fighting, and he had invited us (and other friends) over to watch a big pay-per-view UFC event. So we hung out for a couple hours and watched some ultimate fighting. I'm a big boxing fan, so I thought I would enjoy it, but it was pretty tough to watch. Way too much blood! Still, we had a good time. We're looking forward to seeing Ben the next time he gets into the ring (or the cage, as the case may be)!
