Ready to Rock for Barack

Yesterday afternoon, Lisa and I headed downtown to the Obama '08 headquarters to train for our upcoming trip to Iowa. We'll be canvassing in Dubuque to encourage people to caucus for Barack in January. We all hope and believe that we're finally on the road to a positive change in our country with Obama at the helm. There was a great article in the New Yorker recently about Obama the Conciliator. It's long, but well worth reading.

Woohoo!! I'm so happy and proud that you're working on the Obama campaign. Alejandro and I are prepared to pound the pavement for him when we get home...hopefully in time for the election!

I love that you're doing this! I want to volunteer for a campaign, but I confess I haven't decided who I support yet. I like Obama, but I also like Dodd and Richardson. I suppose Obama is by far the most viable of those candidates, but I don't want to base my support of someone on whether or not I think they'll win. Argh. So why is it that you're throwing your support behind Obama? What is it about him that won you over?

I think what attracts me most to Obama is his reconciliatory nature and the sense of hope he provides. I really believe that he can provide a sense of unity to this country that has been blown into shambles by the fear-mongering Bush administration. His politics can run a little moderate for my taste, but I passionately believe that he's a smart, thoughtful man who will do what he can to heal this nation and restore our standing in the world.
